Island Retreat is a spacious and modern detached house in an ideal location on a quiet road, within easy reach of beaches and everything else you need for a fantastic holiday on Mersea Island.
With the added opulence of a bubbling hot tub, this home is ideal for friends and families looking to explore the coast of Essex and all the island has to offer.
Park up and be welcomed into a light and airy property with plenty of amenities to cater to your stay.
There is an open-plan living space offering a kitchen with state of the art amenities, ideal for cooking up a storm using local produce, accompanied by a dining table for hearty meals and a sitting area.
The property boasts a beautiful living/dining room with seas of natural light, a selection of eye-catching house plants, and a plush sofa for your relaxation, as well as a second dining table.
This pretty space opens up onto the enclosed garden, a walled space with a patio ideal for alfresco dining as the sun sets overhead, and why not spend an opulent evening in the hot tub? When sleep calls, settle into one of the four bedrooms, beginning on the ground floor with a bedroom which is a multi-use space, a handy room that can be a double, two singles or a sofa for flexibility, serviced by a sleek shower room.
On the first floor three plush double bedrooms await, serviced by a bathroom. Located on the western main hub of Mersea Island, a multitude of watersports can be enjoyed such as sailing, windsurfing, kayaking and kitesurfing, as well as fishing and crabbing opportunities aplenty.
There is also bike hire available in the village, ideal for exploring the island on two wheels.
Refueling is easy with the wonderful selection cafes, pubs and restaurants nearby and you should definitely aim to try some of the famous Mersea oysters, grown by local families for generations.
The island is also ideal for those with a keen interest in the outdoors, with wonderful wildlife, walking and cycling to be relished in abundance.
From the east of the island, during peak times, you can also catch a ferry to Brightlingsea to sample some of the famous fish and chips on offers and marvel at the rainbow-coloured beach huts.
There really is so much to do on this beautiful island and you’ll want to return again and again to this wonderful holiday cottage.
Head over to the beautiful beach and spend a day paddling in the waves, or why not check out the scenery of Cobmarsh Island and Sunken Island with a riverside walk.
Countryside walks can be found within the beautiful Dedham Vale AONB, Hamford Water National Nature Reserve, and Suffolk & Essex Coast & Heaths National Landscape, whilst the historic city of Colchester houses several museums, many quaint shops and cafes, and Colchester Castle.

Island Retreat is a cottage located in West Mersea, Essex. The accommodation includes an open-plan living space with kitchen, dining seating for eight, and a sitting area, along with a separate living and dining room featuring a woodburning stove. The kitchen is equipped with Neff appliances including electric oven and hob, microwave, refrigeration, dishwasher, coffee maker, blender, kettle, and toaster. There are four bedrooms, comprising a ground-floor bedroom which can be set up as a twin/singles or a sofa by prior arrangement and two king-size and 1 double bedrooms. The property benefits from a ground-floor shower room with walk-in shower, basin, heated towel rail, and WC, as well as a bathroom with bath, shower over, hand-held shower, basin, heated towel rail, and WC. Central heating, WiFi, fuel, power, bed linen, towels, and a starter pack for the woodburning stove are included in the rent. A travel cot with mattress, protector, and fitted sheet, and a Stokke adjustable highchair are available on request. Outside, there is an enclosed rear garden with lawn, patio, furniture, and a hot tub, along with off-road parking for two cars and additional parking a short walk away. One well-behaved pet welcome.
