## Emplacement
The town of Lancieux is a seaside village on the Breton coast located in the heart of the Emerald Coast.
The history of the town begins around the year 500, with the landing of Saint-Séoc on the coasts, a Breton hermit and disciple of Saint-Brieuc. He built his first monastery there, of which no archaeological traces remain to this day. Its disappearance dates back to the 10th century, following the invasions of vikings, in favour of the Benedictine abbey of St Jacut.
Around the fifteenth century, the town was divided between 3 lords and the abbey of St Jacut. The latter built there under François 1st the mill of Buglais, the oldest monument of Lancieux, and the dike to the monks.
Seaside tourism began in Lancieux in 1880. Today, the town lives mainly from this sector. It offers walkers many sites to discover. Among these, the beaches of St Sieu and Briantais, historical paths, the old bell tower or the village.
The city also has leisure and sports facilities, as well as bars and restaurants where you can taste local specialties, while enjoying a warm setting on the Breton coast.
