Description
Bad Karlshafen is located on the German Fairytale Route and is known for its beautiful landscape and wide range of leisure activities. Our lovingly furnished vacation home is located in the district of Helmarshausen. It offers a quiet location with a good view of the Krukenburg and the Reinhardswald. The house is surrounded by a large, partly covered terrace with bicycle parking and a sheltered sunbathing lawn. Bad Karlshafen was founded in 1699 by Landgrave Carl von Hessen as a baroque town at the confluence of the Diemel and Weser rivers. Karlshafen owes its "spa" status to a brine spring discovered in 1730, which is used again today by the Weser thermal baths, the spa center and the graduation house. Helmarshausen is characterized by its medieval half-timbered buildings and the former Benedictine abbey. The ground plan of the former monastery church and parts of the town fortifications with an accessible fortified tower, as well as the 13th century Krukenburg castle can be visited. Museums: German Huguenot Museum, museum of the local history association with facsimile edition of the Gospels of Henry the Lion and exhibition on book illumination in the Middle Ages. Four national cycle paths R1 and R4, as well as the Weser and Diemel cycle paths meet in Bad Karlshafen. Further leisure activities: Hiking, Nordic walking, mountain biking, horse riding, tennis, minigolf, bowling alley, fitness center, sauna, solarium, fishing, passenger boat trips on the Weser, canoe and bicycle hire and covered wagon rides.
