Salisbury 4.5 miles.
Settled on the outskirts of the historic city of Salisbury in Winterbourne Dauntsey is 1 Peacock Cottage.
This charming 16th century, Grade II listed cottage is bursting at the seams with character thanks to its thatched roof, exposed beams, original woodwork, quarry tiles and gas fireplace, and is the perfect setting for couples or a small family and their canine companion looking to holiday in a cottage steeped in history.
Cross the threshold into your new home-from-home, which is renowned for being one of the oldest properties in Wiltshire, and step into the kitchen to help prepare a hearty meal to refuel after a day of exploring.
Later, unwind in front of the warmth of the gas fire and flick on the TV, snuggle up with your loved ones ahead of a well-earned family film night.
When the evening draws to a close, wash off the day’s adventures in the ground-floor bathroom before climbing the stairs to catch your rest in either the super-king-size or twin room. 1 Peacock Cottage lies paces away from The Winterbourne Arms, a local pub serving traditional pub fare and a variety of drinks, ideal for the evenings when you don’t fancy cooking.
Spend the day in Salisbury, where you can immerse yourself in local history at Salisbury Cathedral, home to the Magna Carta, famous clock dating back to 1386, and the impressive spire that dominates the city’s skyline.
Be sure to tour the plethora of museums including The Salisbury Museum, Arundells and the National Trust site of Mompesson House before stopping off for drinks at The Pheasant Inn or the 14th century Bell and Crown.
The New Forest National Park is also easily accessible by car, perfect for those looking to explore nature, spot wildlife, and take part in a variety of activities such as bus tours, cycling and lucky guests may even spot the wild horses roaming throughout.
