Little Willows in Naphill is an end-of-row, brick and flint character cottage, next to the owners’ home and located close to the town of Princes Risborough, and offers visitor accommodation of an excellent standard. The Chilterns is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and is situated between London and Oxford, and the region offers superb scenery, tucked-away villages and market towns. The cottage is ideally located to enjoy Buckinghamshire’s, Berkshire’s and Oxfordshire’s lovely countryside walks and bridleways, and makes a great base for walking, trekking and cycling holidays. The cottage is in close proximity of the historic Ridgeway Trail, and is not far from the start of the ancient X Way at Ivinghoe Beacon.
There are several stately homes and National Trust properties in the area, including Chequers, the prime minister’s country estate, Great Missenden with its curving high street of half-timbered houses and Georgian shops, and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre. Marlow, Henley and Windsor provide attractive access for riverside walks along the Thames Path, and also have a wealth of restaurants, boutiques and cafes. The village shop is ¼ mile, with the nearest pub and restaurant 500 yards from Little Willows, which is on a local bus route, with a bus stop nearby. Locally, there are also a number of cycle routes and footpaths, a parade of shops, and places to eat and visit; Hughenden Manor, Hell Fire Caves, Swan Theatre and Bletchley Park. For those wanting a day out in the capital using the high speed link from High Wycombe train station, visitors can arrive at London Marylebone in under 30 minutes. Additionally, the underground station at Amersham is only a short distance away.
The interior design of this property was inspired by George Clark’s ’Amazing Spaces’, with the cottage being compact, quirky and containing features of the period, such as a luxury shower room’s low vaulted ceiling, alongside modern features. The downstairs living space, with underfloor heating can be adjusted to suit the visitors’ mood; be it relaxing in the comfortable armchairs, enjoying a good film or meal. The centrepiece of the downstairs living space is a bespoke handmade larder unit crafted by local tradesmen which houses a kitchenette, which when not in use takes the appearance of a traditional larder unit. A hand-made staircase with an open view aspect to the second floor, leads to a spacious bedroom. The bedroom has dual aspect windows and in addition to traditional and modern features there is a sitting-out area and a bespoke bed. The low vaulted ceiling in the shower room ensures maximum light, with two Velux windows and also blackout blinds. Little Willows has also gained a ’Green Award’. Shop ¼ mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
