The Isle of Cumbrae offers a truly relaxing escape, and is hugely popular with cyclists and walkers, yet is just a 10-minute water crossing from mainland Ayrshire on ferries which run very frequently during the summer.
A haven for wildlife, Cumbrae attracts migrant birds from around the world and the flora of the island is equally varied, and a visit to the island’s Marine Research Station with it museum and aquarium is a must.
There is a water sports centre on the island offering various courses including kayaking and canoeing.
Millport is also the home of Europe’s smallest cathedral and Britain’s narrowest house.
Newtown Bay in the village offers sheltered anchorages and secure moorings.
Beach 50 yards.
Shop, pub and restaurant 500 yards. Free WiFi EPC Rating = E We highly recommend that you book your ferry as soon as possible as ferries get very busy.
