For all those who love individuality: where farmers once delivered their milk urns with fresh milk, a special holiday house was created in 1993 after comprehensive conversion work. What has remained is the Low German name “Melkhus”, evoking the former usage of the house.
The little house comprises three floors connected by little stairways. The middle floor has a living room with a radio, CD player and digital satellite TV. There is a pull-out double sofa for further guests to sleep on. The lower floor has a kitchen and a bathroom with a shower and WC. The kitchen is fully-equipped and suitable for self-catering, with a ceramic hob, coffee machine, toaster, fridge, kettle, a full set of tableware. The bedroom with a double bed is in the attic and has a double bed. It can be totally darkened with blonds. The old solid building structure, combined with modern windows, ensure a pleasant and quiet indoor climate. If it is raining then there is plenty of reading material available.
As the house can be heated easily with night storage heaters, it can welcome you all year round. The Baltic Sea town of Sellin and the island of Rügen offer leisure activities in nature and a varied cultural landscape in any season and in any weather.
The Melkhus is a convenient starting point for exploring the Baltic Sea towns by bus, car, bike, boat or on foot. The large, fenced site has a campfire area and plenty of space for bicycles, canoes, surf boards etc. Owing to the open stairs, the house is not suitable for toddlers and those with restricted mobility.
The towns on the east coast of Rügen (Binz, Sellin and Göhren) exude a special charm, with their traditional seaside architecture of the “Golden Twenties”, restored carefully to its former glory. The nearest shopping facilities are about 1km away.
